2005 Year In Review - Rain, Big Fish, New Friends!!

Well it has been about 5 weeks since I have put the Sled in the shop!!!

Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain !!!!

I do not put my Sled in the water if the river is past stage #5. (That is about 3.810 cubic Feet water flow per sec)

This is to allow for optimal flow for drifting Sand Shrimp. (Steel Head Fishing)

As I sit here watching the rain come down, I reflect on "2005". We had a great Silver and King season.

Sometimes we would hook up to 9-12 fish a day.

King season was just getting good, then the rain came.

The river has staid between Stage 8 and 13. This is not fishable.

Thinking back at King Season we caught 2 kings over 50 lbs.

Every year I have five doctors from the Olympia area that book a whole week(7-8 days).

For the last three years they have been washed out. They book around late OCT.

The weather seems to have changed in the last 4 to 5 years.

It is getting wet sooner than normal. (Oct. instead of Nov.)

I got out a little in December. I caught some nice Steelhead (Hatchery Brats) Some big brats 16-18 lbs. then the rain started again...

"Here I Sit"..!!!

Some of the other guides are giving it a try. Clay Butler and Richard Obi both are catching fish in Cook Creek and Salmon River (walk-in trips).

Caly Butler- If anyone gets a chance to fish with Clay, He's one of the best guides on the river. I watch him and he truly is the man. I have total respect and feel honored to fish the same river with him.

There is truely a lot of good guides on this river. The river sells itself.

In my business I meet a lot of interesting people.

One good example is my Webmaster - "JJ". He is a young man that builds the MemoryMaker Site.

He totally went off on mine and he never stops. It is like a relentless attack to feed the fishing people.

Anyone out there that needs a web site that doesnt have one or looking to upgrade it give me a call or email me.

I will hook you up with "JJ".

There is so many guys out there that will burn you in a heart beat..

Not "JJ". He is like a breath of fresh air. It is nice to know there is still good people out there.

Hard to believe with the younger generation(No Patience/Want it all now)

I realized I have been doing this for 17 years now and it is just starting to take shape.

Every year I try to think of something new to add to my fish trips.

This year I am running a (Dream Trip 2006!!) A Premiere fishing trip, Steak BBQ directly on River, and More.

The other is the biggest Steelhead caught gets a free trip next season.

"Yes, you are reading that right.. Catch the biggest fish this year and get rewarded.." Who is it going to be this year..

I have a feeling it will be someone that is for sure..

I am realizing being in the National Rain Forest that there are only a select amount of days that people can fish. I am realizing how great of an oppertunity this is for anyone looking for a Great time in an exclusive environment at the Lake Quinault River.

I hope you take advantage of my email and email me memories, and photos.

As I reflect on a new Year. I see great memories that will hopefully make it on the Web site for all to enjoy.

Happy Fishing - Til Next Time,
"Memory Maker" Benny Benavidez
