After one of the biggest storms we have seen in years, maybe the century, maybe ever.
128 mph gusts destroying everthing in it's path. Lasting about 1&1/2 days. Usually storms just blow thru in about 4 hours, but not this one!!! Needless to say I didn't sleep that night. Hearing trees snap across from my house.
This was on the 2nd of December 2007. Lake Quinault was a total blow out and of course that means the river was the same. The visibility was none and the river was total gray. Fishing was over for the whole season in the spring of 2008.
Finally there is visability and green water again.
River is low now but the rain is a coming. Let's just hope for a little at a time!
A little summary of what has happened so far:
***
9-23-08 Finn from Ocean Shores and Steve Nagnes from Lochaerie Resort Lake Quinault caught 10 for
15 fish, Coho, Steelhead and jacks
***
9-27-08 Jim & Mark McCullough (Aberdeen) 5 for 8, coho, Steelhead, king and jack
9-28-08 Milt & Shawn McGuire (Hoquiam) 1 for 1, Steelhead
Since all the hot weather the river has dropped like wildfire making it hard to get around. I've already left my mark on four boulders in the river and the bottom of the sled. (Boulder Garden)
Knowing I only had a few days until rain I had to try it again!
***
9-29-08 Jon Taylor and Allen Pettibone (Oly) 2 for 6, jacks only Hot weather, bite was off with the east wind that was blowing for a couple days.
No more fishing until rain which is supposed to start tonight!
Steve Roebecker and Wally Vincent are crying big tears as their trip got cancelled along with a new client, young Patrick Strunk.
More days a head and more fishing time coming!
Yours truly,
Benny
